You can move cards sequentially onto the build pile, or onto the discard pile. This looks to be very difficult to win, but six winnable hands can be dealt from a menu. [CALCSOL] Calculation Solitaire (Thomas, Daniel ASP; $15-$20) is a well-done game of solitaire. Features include card dragging, saved top scores, multiple difficulty levels, hints, and more. [CANFIELD] Canfield for Windows (Thomas, Daniel ASP; $20) is an interesting and fun variation of solitaire. If its five levels of difficulty are not enough, you can define your own levels. Other features include cheating, auto-play, hints, extensive help, and much more. This is a very nicely done game, with many challenging options. [CLCKSOL] Clock Solitaire 1.1 (Fanion, Barry C.; $5) is an interesting game where the cards are dealt into piles corresponding to locations on a clock face. The object is to place all cards into the proper pile (aces at 1 o'clock, sixes at 6 o'clock, etc.) without getting stuck. You can change the graphic of the card backs, and a running total of games won and lost is maintained. Requires VBRUN300. [CRISPY1] Crispy1 (Pando, Chris; $0) is a solitaire game based on the King's Corners game. It requires VBRUN100. [FC_WIN] FreeCell 1.2 (Allen, Marc L.; $5) is an interesting variation of solitaire for Windows. There are several options for customizing the playfield. Other features include card animation, automatic moves, and more. Do not expect to win this game easily. [GAPS] Gaps 1.31s (Kokoski, Richard T.; $12) is a challenging variation of solitaire. The object of the game is to properly move the cards so that you have the same suit aligned up in sequential order, where each row holds a different suit and the last position holds a blank space. Features include unlimited backup of moves, a variety of card and deck options, and an option that sends all playable cards home. There are even two cheat features available for when frustration sets in. The card bitmaps are very well done, and there are enough options to keep you from getting bored. [KLONWIN] Klondike Solitaire for Windows (Pigeon Lake Software, Inc.; $5) is a challenging card game for Windows 3.1. Features include six colorful card backs, support for card dragging, double-clicking to place cards, and more. [PAT_SOL] Patience Solitaire 1.01V (Sands, Richard R.; $0) is a fast-paced solitaire card game. You must build on the four aces in sequence (but regardless of suit) from four face-up stacks. Don't expect to win at this very often. VBRUN is required. [PYR_SOL] Pyramid Solitaire (Waddell, James; $0) is an interesting variation of solitaire for Windows. The object is to clear all cards from the pyramid by selecting pairs of cards that total 13 points. A mouse is required. [PYR13] Pyramid 1.3 (Philip Bush;; $5) is an interesting version of solitaire. You must pair cards whose value totals 13 to remove them from the pyramid display. This can be a difficult game to win. Requires VBRUN300. [SOL_PAK] Solitaire Pak (Waddell, James; $0) is a set of four card games for Windows. Included are Acey-Ducey, Golf Solitaire, Poker Solitaire, and Pyramid Solitaire. A 386-20 with 2 meg RAM is recommended, and a hard disk and VGA is required. [SPS_GAME] SPS Game Pack (SP Services; 15 pounds Sterling) is a collection of three games for Windows. ARACHNID and TOWERS are two challenging variations of solitaire. MINES is a strategy game in which you maneuver around a grid avoiding hidden bombs. [THINGS] Thieves and Kings 1.2 (Pixel Perfect; $20) contains two challenging solitaire games for Windows: King's Corners and Forty Thieves. [TOWERS] Towers (Peninsula Software; $15) is a solitaire game that you can win 90% of the time IF you are careful. You cannot blow through the cards playing the first available cards every time as in other solitaire games. To win games, you will probably have to take back a lot of moves and maybe start the hand over a time or two. [WINSPDR] Windows Spider Solitaire 93.06.20 (Junod, John A.; $5) is a difficult variation of solitaire for Windows. It uses two decks of cards and comes with a help file to get you started. The author states that he can usually win 1 out of 5 games, and that skill in placing cards can overcome the luck of the draw. -----Mah Jongg [MJW] Mah Jongg For Windows 3.1 (Balewski, Ron; $20) is a full-featured version of the Mah Jongg solitaire tile game. Ten different tile sets are included; more can be created with a compatible paint program and the accompanying PCX template. Requires VGA. [TAIPEI] Taipei! (Norris, Dave; $10) is an excellent game of Mahjongg for Windows 3.0. Features include beautiful full-color tiles, selectable BMP backgrounds, user-defined tile layouts, and an on-line help file. Several tough layouts are included. 400K of disk space is required.
